During a routine training exercise, a U.S. submarine collides with a Russian craft. As the U.S. ship makes its way back to shore -- where the captain will be court-martialed -- they find themselves being pursued by another Russian sub that's been taken over by terrorists. The dispirited U.S. crew suddenly finds that the fate of the free world is in their hands.
