In this sobering documentary, Bay Area filmmakers Allie Light and Irving Saraf check into the Empress Hotel -- a facility for the homeless run by the San Francisco Department of Public Health -- to share the residents' remarkable life stories. Among the tenants: a well-educated woman whose skills have become obsolete, an amateur boxer whose rage has repeatedly landed him behind bars and a heroin user struggling with addiction.
