When a small-town guy named Joe (Benjamin Montague) is diagnosed with terminal leukemia, he seeks to turn what's left of his life into a journey of love and discovery rather than melancholy resignation, and begins writing a book about the experience. Joe doesn't tell his new flame (Elaine Robinson) about his condition, instead relying heavily on his best friend (Cliff Chamberlain) to help him turn the end of his life into a personal triumph.
