An unemployed "nice guy" actor (John Ritter) is mistaken for a do-gooding, costumed crime fighter named Captain Avenger. But the harmless error is magnified when a couple of political operatives (Bert Convy and Kevin McCarthy) try to manipulate the case of mistaken identity to their own ends. Anne Archer co-stars as the dishy neighbor across the hall, and Kevin Bacon, in an early role, makes a very brief appearance. Martin Davidson directs.
