Happily married (and childless) Jim and Victoria Douglas (Martin Balsam and Cloris Leachman) are both on the leeward side of 40. Content with their peaceful existence, the couple finds their life gone haywire when, after 18 years of marriage, Victoria becomes pregnant. In addition to concern over the health of her baby, the mom-to-be isn't happy at the prospect of giving up her job or with the unsolicited advice of her friends and family.
