Synopsis
Adapted from a popular radio minstrel comedy serial, this influential sitcom centers on Amos Jones (Alvin Childress) and Andy Brown (Spencer Williams), two ex-farmhands trying to make their way in the hustle and bustle of big-city Chicago. One of the earliest television shows to feature African-American actors, this landmark comedy series sparked a wave of controversy due to what many saw as its unflattering depiction of black characters.
