With Indian scout Red Hawk (Phillip Reed) by his side, the nephew and namesake (George Montgomery) of famed frontiersman Davy Crockett leads a wagon train of pioneers through the harsh frontier in search of homes in this low-budget Western. When the band is attacked by Indians, Crockett deduces that there's a spy in their midst, and suspicion falls on teacher Frances Oatman (Ellen Drew), a half-Kiowa settler.
